What’s on at St John’s

Church services
The growing congregation at St John’s is made up of all ages and stages coming together to worship, hear from the Bible and encourage each other. Children are always welcome. We have things for them to do within the main service because they are a vital part of what we do here.
We alternate Morning Worship with Holy Communion. All are welcome.
10.45am Every Sunday

Messy Church
This happens on the second Saturday of each month and is for parents/guardians/grandparents and children. Come along to enjoy crafts, stories, a song or two, prayer activities all in a relaxed fun environment. Then we eat a home-cooked lunch together afterwards – it’s great!
Expect dressing up, lots to do, and a certain level of happy chaos!

Family occasions
We are here for you and your family’s big days, whether that’s a wedding, a baptism or when you’re saying goodbye to a loved one. Get in touch to find out how we can make your day really special.

Cafe
St John’s operates a low-cost cafe as a place to meet, relax and enjoy good food. It’s open from Tuesday to Friday 9.30am to 1.30pm. Enjoy full English breakfasts, home cooked lunches, sandwiches and toasties or baked potatoes served with free tea or coffee. Children under 16 can eat for free in the school holidays off the main menu with a parent or guardian eating a meal.
When you eat with us, you help support all we do in the community.

Day Centre
St John’s is one of the most long established day centres for elderly people in the area. It is the place for good company and fun activities like dominoes, singing, bingo, crafts or a quiz. Every person can expect breakfast, a home-cooked lunch with pudding and fresh sandwiches to take home. This service is on Wednesdays and Fridays. Please do book in through the church office on 01274 610674.

Food4All
Our ever-popular food pantry is called Food4All. Surplus food is sold which helps the environment, the community and your pocket! Just £3 for ten items. It takes place on Thursdays from midday to 1.30pm, and on Fridays from 9.30am to 1.30pm.
We typically have lots of fresh produce as well as the essentials and store cupboard items. It’s a friendly atmosphere and everyone is welcome.

Warm space
You are more than welcome to enjoy free tea and coffee in our low-cost cafe open from Tuesday to Friday 9am to 1.30pm. It’s a warm and cosy place.

Sensory play
Join parents/guardians and under fives on Tuesday mornings from 10am to midday with lots to do and social time and a brew! Sensory play is open in the school holidays too, which many appreciate.

Bedding Bank
A couple of times a year we hold bedding sales where quality second-hand towels, bedding and duvets are sold for just a £1 per bin bag full. Keep an eye out on facebook for details.
